Spotlight Dance Center is a premier dance studio located in Clarkston, Michigan, established in the year 2000. For over two decades, we have been dedicated to providing a nurturing environment for dance enthusiasts of all ages to learn, grow, and thrive. Our studio is designed to cater to a wide range of dance styles, from classical ballet to hip-hop, ensuring that there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Our Facility

Our state-of-the-art facility boasts a spacious and well-equipped studio with a full stage-sized rehearsal room and three additional large classrooms. All studios are equipped with dance-specific flooring, full-height mirrors, and modern sound systems, providing the perfect environment for students to learn, practice, and perform.

Highly Trained Staff

Our experienced and passionate instructors are dedicated to helping students develop their skills and confidence in dance. Many of our instructors are certified by Dance Masters of America and have extensive knowledge of dance techniques and styles. Our team is committed to providing a supportive and encouraging environment that fosters a love of dance in all students.

Service Offerings

At Spotlight Dance Center, we offer a diverse range of dance classes for students aged 3 to adult. Our comprehensive program includes:

• Pre-Ballet and Tap: Beginner-level classes designed to introduce young children to the fundamentals of technique, posture, and coordination.
• Ballet: A classical dance form characterized by grace, precision, and fluid movements.
• Pointe: An advanced ballet technique that showcases graceful and precise movements performed in pointe shoes.
• Tap: A rhythmic dance style where dancers create lively beats and rhythms by skillfully using their feet to make their own music.
• Jazz: An energetic dance style with a focus on syncopated rhythms, isolations, and improvisation.
• Hip-Hop: A high-energy street dance style that combines various elements of urban and hip-hop culture.
• Boys Hip-Hop: A boys-only class at a discounted rate that focuses on classic hip-hop movements.
• Lyrical: A fusion of ballet and jazz techniques, characterized by fluid and emotional movements that interpret the lyrics of a song.
• Contemporary: A modern dance style that blends elements of ballet, jazz, and lyrical dance, emphasizing expression and interpretation.

Competitive Dance

For advanced students over the age of 6, we offer additional opportunities to develop dance and life skills through our Company Team. The team competes in 4-5 competitions each year and attends a National Competition every other year. These competitions offer a chance for dancers to showcase their skills and receive feedback from judges across disciplines. Auditions for the team are held every June following recital.

Meet Our Instructors

At Spotlight Dance Center, we are proud to have a team of experienced and dedicated instructors who are passionate about inspiring a love of dance in their students. From our studio owners to our company directors, our instructors have years of experience and training in various dance styles. We invite you to get to know them better:

• Stephanie Kauffman: Owner and Director of Spotlight Dance Center, with over 28 years of dance experience in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, and lyrical.
• Wendy Harris: Founder of Spotlight Dance Center, with 33 years of teaching experience in all genres of dance and certified by Dance Masters of America.
• Raquel Pickett: Company/Competition Director, with extensive training in ballet, pointe, jazz, and tap, and certified by Dance Masters of America.
• Isabella Cascioli: Instructor and Choreographer, with 11 years of training at Spotlight, and professional company member with Ballet Edge Detroit.
• Gabriella Cascioli: Instructor and Choreographer, with 9 years of training at Spotlight, and undergraduate studies in dance performance and education.
• Jessie Cobb: Instructor, with training under the direction of Raquel Pickett.
