Ashland Community Preschool

Ashland Community Preschool is a 501(c)3 nonprofit cooperative school run by a parent board, nestled in the heart of historic Ashland, VA. Our goal is to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment that supports the development of the whole child. We believe that learning should be fun, engaging, and tailored to each child's unique needs and interests.

Our Philosophy

At Ashland Community Preschool, we encourage children to explore, discover, and grow at their own pace, while also fostering a sense of community and collaboration. Our dedicated team of teachers and parents work together to create a welcoming environment that is rich in Montessori-inspired activities, sensory play, and academic rigor.

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to be engaging, interactive, and tailored to each child's individual needs and interests. Our students participate in a variety of activities, including puzzles, games, sensory objects, and storytelling. Our program is designed to be flexible, allowing students to choose how they will spend their time, while our teachers provide guidance and support.

Our Directress

Our Directress, Corinne Luck, has 30 years of experience in early childhood education and has written three children's books that promote kindness and empathy. Corinne is passionate about creating a nurturing and stimulating environment that supports the development of the whole child. She is dedicated to building strong partnerships with families to support their child's development.

Regular Preschool Class

Our daily class is available for students up to five days per week. Families may choose which days they would like their child to attend. Class begins at 9:00 am and ends at 1:00 pm each day. Throughout the day, students participate in various Montessori-based activities, during which they can choose how they will spend their time.

K-Prep Program

In addition to our regular class, we also offer a K-Prep program on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays that helps prepare students for kindergarten. Students will be introduced to reading, writing, and simple math in a one-on-one environment with our K-Prep leader.

Sensory Playgroup

Our Sensory Playgroup is a weekly Montessori-inspired meetup for children 18 months to 33 months. Each month, students explore a new theme through sensory play, stories, and music. This program is modeled after our preschool classroom and curriculum and is designed for parents or caregivers to attend with their child. The class is capped at 12 students, and applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Community Events

We believe that learning is not limited to the classroom. We regularly participate in community events and host activities that bring our families together. Our events include a spring festival, holiday parties, and service projects. We also partner with local businesses and organizations to support our school and community.
