With a rich history dating back to 1977, our preschool has been serving the Richmond community for over 46 years. We take pride in our commitment to providing a high-quality early childhood education, tailored to the unique needs and abilities of each child.

Our History

Our story began as a chance meeting between two mothers, Anne Long and Shirley Patterson, whose children became fast friends in elementary school. This serendipitous encounter marked the beginning of Gingerbread Cottage Preschool. Over the years, we have been blessed to have had the support of local churches and communities, which have graciously allowed us to rent their facilities. Our dedicated staff, made up of talented and experienced educators, has been instrumental in making Gingerbread Cottage Preschool the success it is today.

At Gingerbread Cottage Preschool, we believe that every child is unique and deserves a personalized approach to learning. Our curriculum is designed to foster self-esteem, respect for others, and a wide range of educational experiences that cater to the individual needs of each child. We recognize the importance of social-emotional learning and strive to create a sense of community and belonging among our students.

Programs

Our programs are designed to meet the unique needs of children aged 2.5 to 5 years old. Our teachers are committed to creating a fun and engaging environment that fosters cognitive, social, and emotional development. Our programs are structured around educational themes, with daily activities that promote creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking.

Program Highlights

• 2.5 Year Olds: Our program focuses on teaching social interaction, independence, and self-confidence.
• 3 Year Olds: We help children develop their ability to listen, follow directions, and become more independent, while introducing them to the alphabet and basic literacy skills.
• Pre-K 4/5 Year Olds: Our program prepares children for kindergarten by providing a strong foundation in literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skills.
