Lazy Bear Winery

Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Pickens County, SC, Lazy Bear Winery is a family-owned and operated business that specializes in fruit and berry wines. With a stunning view of Paris Mountain in the distance, we take pride in harvesting blueberries, strawberries, grapes, peaches, raspberries, and blackberries on our property. To supplement our crops, we collaborate with local growers in the Greenville area to create specialty wines using exclusively locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.

Lazy Bear Winery is the brainchild of retired Air Force veterans who have served over 20 years for their country. After traveling all around the US and Europe, they developed a deep appreciation for wine while stationed in Germany for four years. Little did they know that 12 years later, they would be making their own wine and opening a winery. In 2011, they started making wine with the blueberries they grew on their property, and soon added other fruits and berries to their collection. After receiving positive feedback and recognition for their wines, they decided to open Lazy Bear Winery in 2015.

Our Wines

We specialize in fruit and berry wines, with the exception of our Muscadine grape wine, which is a traditional southern grape. Our wine mentor encouraged us to enter our wines in competitions, and we are proud to have won numerous medals, including two International GOLD medals. We take great care in the production of our wines and strive to continuously improve them. Our wine selection includes:

• Blackberry Semi-sweet 12% Alcohol by Volume: Our Blackberry wine is sweet, yet has a tart finish, just like eating a fresh blackberry.
• Peach Black Cherry Semi-sweet 12% Alcohol by Volume: This blend mixes black cherries with white-fleshed peaches and is a crowd favorite.
• Strawberry Semi-sweet 12% Alcohol by Volume: Made from freshly picked strawberries, this wine is sweet and full-bodied.
• Peach Berry Medley Semi-sweet 12% Alcohol by Volume: A delightful blend of peaches and raspberries, perfect for any occasion.
• Blueberry Semi-sweet 12% Alcohol by Volume: Made from handpicked blueberries from our property, this wine has a unique and delicious flavor.
• Honey Mead Semi-sweet 12% Alcohol by Volume: Using locally sourced wildflower honey, this mead is made in the traditional style and is a must-try.
• Black Cherry Mead Semi-sweet 12% Alcohol by Volume: Our Black Cherry Mead uses our Traditional Mead as its base and adds in the sweet taste of black cherries.
• Blueberry Mead Semi-sweet 12% Alcohol by Volume: Our latest addition, this mead is made from honey from our own beehives and blueberries that are handpicked from our property.

Visiting Lazy Bear Winery

We welcome visitors to our winery, which is located on our property in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We have a shop that we converted into a winery, where we grow about 20% of our fruits and berries on our 2.5-acre site. We supplement our needs from local farmers in the Upstate and continue to expand our crops as our operation grows.
