Welcome to our business, where we proudly offer a wide range of services related to jewelry and timepieces. Our team is dedicated to providing top-notch customer service and expert craftsmanship. We are open from Monday to Friday, 10:00AM - 6:00PM, and on Saturdays from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. We are also happy to make special appointments on Sundays if that is more convenient for you.

Appraisals

One of the services we offer is appraisals for insurance purposes. These appraisals come with a full report and pictures. The first item is $75.00, and each following item is an additional $30.00. We strive to get all the measurements and information as quickly as possible so that you can take all your pieces home with you at the end of the day or the next morning. We also make sure that everything is cleaned, checked, and polished, so that you can continue to love your jewelry and preserve it for the next generation. Additional Services

In addition to appraisals, we offer a variety of other services. These include watch battery replacements, which can usually be done while you wait. We also offer free cleaning and checking of your jewelry. Do you remember how your jewelry sparkled on the first day you started wearing it? We can bring back that sparkle in a flash! We will check your diamonds, gems, prongs, and more while we do that, and offer some good advice on maintaining and storing your precious jewels so that they will last you more than a lifetime.

Our Story

Now that you know a little bit about what we do, we would like to tell you a bit about who we are and how we got here. Harold was born in Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, and learned his trade at the Vakschool Schoonhoven. He earned his 'Master Gold Smith Sign' while employed at one of the oldest jewelry stores in Schiedam. At the age of 21, he became the youngest self-employed jeweler in the Netherlands, opening his own store where he did repairs on jewelry, clocks, and designed new and custom pieces for his customers. A few years later, he met Astrid, who is from Nijmegen, also in the Netherlands. Their son, Laurens, was born and named after one of their "American" family members. After running his second store in Mijdrecht for 12 years, they decided to sell it to their employees and move to the USA. Harold and his family have been connected to Iowa City since WWII, and in 2011, they opened their business in North Liberty. In April of that year, Sally Mason did the ribbon-cutting for the opening, and in 2015, they moved to their current location on Highway 965.

Our Services

Here is a list of some of the most common repairs and options for restoring your jewelry back to its original luster and appeal:

• Diamonds are loose? Let us check your prongs! We recommend a check-up at least twice a year, and we clean and polish your ring in the process. Retipping starts around $38.00. When the prongs are really worn down, there is no other option than replacing them. Prices for new prongs start at $55.00.
• Sizing Sterling Silver or Gold Rings: SMALLER starting at $41.00 (price depends on width and number of gems), and LARGER starting at $65.00 (price depends on width and number of gems).
• Cleaning and checking of your jewelry is always free of charge.
• If you have watches with broken bracelets, missing links, or batteries that need to be replaced, we have several replacements in stock and can usually replace a battery while you wait.
