Our Story

At Chromatic Coffee, we're a group of passionate coffee enthusiasts who share a vision of creating the perfect cup of coffee for our customers. Our journey began in 2011 when a small group of friends started experimenting with coffee roasting in a basement. After much trial and error, we finally opened our doors to the public in 2012. We've since become known as Metro's best new coffee roaster in 2013 and Thrillist's top coffee company of the Bay Area in 2015, consistently praised and featured on Sprudge and highly rated by Coffee Review.

We believe that coffee is a beautiful artisanal treasure that deserves to be shared with the world. Our aesthetic leans light and lively, with roasting profiles carefully designed to showcase the natural beauty and complexity in each variety and cultivar we select. We prioritize sustainability and social responsibility, ensuring that our producers receive fair prices and that our supply chain is transparent and accountable.

Our Roasting Process

We source high-quality, small-batch coffee beans from around the world and roast them to order in our state-of-the-art facility. Our team culture is plucky, inclusive, and DIY, with a passion for innovation and community engagement. We hot-stamp and pack our own bags and maintain our own machines to ensure the highest level of quality control.

Our Timeline

• 2011: A small group of friends begin experimenting with coffee roasting in a basement.
• 2012: Chromatic Coffee Company opens its doors for the first time.

• 2018: We relocate to 460 Lincoln Avenue in San Jose, California.
• 2019: We open the doors to the public, serving coffee straight from the heart.
