Dr. Michael B. McFarland is a dedicated and experienced counseling psychologist who has been serving clients in the Dallas area for many years. He earned his Ph. D. from the University of North Texas Counseling Psychology Doctoral Program, an accredited program by the American Psychological Association (APA). This rigorous training provided him with a strong foundation in psychological theory, research, and clinical practice.

Dr. McFarland's expertise spans a wide range of therapeutic domains, including the treatment of mood disturbances, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), eating disorders, tic disorders, emerging psychotic disorders, identity issues, and career counseling.

Beyond individual therapy, Dr. McFarland also offers couples, group, and family therapy services. He believes that understanding the context of relationships and family dynamics is crucial in addressing mental health concerns, and he tailors his approach accordingly.

Dr. McFarland's professional journey has been marked by a commitment to expanding his knowledge and refining his therapeutic skills. He completed his predoctoral training at various esteemed institutions, including the University of North Texas Psychology Clinic, the UNT Counseling and Testing Center, and Parkland Hospital's Consult Liaison Psychiatry Service.

His predoctoral internship took him to Duke University's Counseling and Testing Services, providing him with invaluable experience working with a diverse population of clients. Following his doctorate, Dr. McFarland pursued a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Inpatient Eating Disorder/Psychiatry Unit at Children's Medical Center Dallas, further specializing in the treatment of eating disorders. Prior to his doctoral studies, Dr. McFarland volunteered as a certified crisis counselor for over 1000 hours at the Suicide and Crisis Center of Dallas, demonstrating his compassion and dedication to supporting individuals in crisis.
