New South Credit Union

New South Credit Union was established in 1952, with a mission to serve the employees of Southern Railway. Over the years, our organization has evolved and expanded, and we are now proud to serve everyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Knox, Grainger, and Union counties. Our community charter allows us to serve a broader range of members, including the employees and families of various companies and organizations in the area.

As a not-for-profit institution, New South Credit Union is committed to promoting thrift and providing credit to its members. Unlike banks that operate to make a profit, we exist to benefit our members. We are owned and controlled by our accountholders through an unpaid Board of Directors elected by the members. This unique structure enables us to offer lower rates on loans, pay higher interests on deposits, and provide many free services to our members.

Our History

New South Credit Union was initially chartered to serve the employees of Southern Railway. However, in 2004, we expanded our charter to serve the broader community. Today, we have three branches located in Knoxville, Blaine, and Maynardville, offering a wide range of financial services to our members.
