Connect with your authentic Self, move towards wholeness
Welcome to my website! I'm Johanna Rayman, LCSW, GCFP, a licensed clinical social worker and a certified Feldenkrais practitioner, dedicated to providing a supportive and collaborative environment for individuals to explore and address their physical, emotional, and mental well-being. My passion is to help people connect with themselves, develop greater body awareness, and cultivate self-awareness through the Feldenkrais Method and somatic practices.
My Journey
Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, I have always been drawn to social justice, community care, dance, and movement studies. My diverse life experiences have influenced my approach to counseling, which emphasizes compassion, understanding, and empowerment. As a Caucasian, Canadian-American lesbian with Jewish and West European ancestry, I strive to be an ally and advocate for marginalized communities.
My Practice
As a licensed clinical social worker, I have over 25 years of experience in the field, with a strong background in trauma treatment, chronic pain management, and LGBTQ2IA+ affirming therapy. My services include individual, group, and couples therapy as well as movement-based therapy and the Feldenkrais Method. I am committed to providing a safe and supportive environment where individuals can explore their thoughts, feelings, and emotions without judgment.
The Feldenkrais Method
The Feldenkrais Method is a mind-body practice that combines concepts from functional anatomy, human development, and philosophies of learning to enhance awareness, flexibility, and coordination. It is a unique approach to personal development that can have profound effects on daily life. Through the Feldenkrais Method, individuals can learn to develop greater awareness of their body, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve their overall well-being.
Philosophy
As a somatic practitioner, I offer a holistic approach to wellness, recognizing that physical, emotional, and mental health are interconnected. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space where individuals can explore their experiences, emotions, and sensations, and develop greater self-awareness. My approach is informed by social justice principles, anti-oppression, and trauma-informed care.
Training and Credentials
I hold a Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) and a Bachelor's degree in Comparative Sociology with a minor in Spanish. I have completed extensive training in the Feldenkrais Method, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and other body-centered modalities. I am certified by the Feldenkrais Guild of North America (GCFP) and licensed by the State of Oregon (LCSW #L3843).
Why Choose Me
As a licensed clinical social worker and certified Feldenkrais practitioner, I offer a unique combination of expertise in both psychotherapy and somatic practices. My approach is centered around compassion, understanding, and empowerment, and I am committed to providing a supportive and non-judgmental environment for individuals to explore their well-being.
Conclusion
I am dedicated to helping individuals develop greater self-awareness, explore their experiences, and cultivate a deeper understanding of themselves. Through the Feldenkrais Method and somatic practices, I empower individuals to connect with their bodies, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve their overall well-being. Whether you are seeking therapy, the Feldenkrais Method, or simply a supportive and non-judgmental space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and sensations, I invite you to explore my services and connect with me.
