Embracing the fullness of our experience to create meaningful change

At Embodied Psychotherapy Portland, we are dedicated to providing a unique and integrative approach to individual and couples therapy. Our name, Embodied Psychotherapy, reflects our deep understanding of the interconnectedness of our emotional, intellectual, and physical lives. By bringing awareness to the present moment, we can uncover our capacity to bravely open to the fullness of our experience and create change from a place of wisdom and compassion.

Our Approach

Our therapy approach is rooted in mindfulness, Buddhist psychology, gestalt therapy, and relational life therapy (RLT). These frameworks empower us to increase awareness of our embodied experience and discover more authentic ways of living a fulfilling life. We work with clients to develop resilience, emotional flexibility, and explore the careful balance between acceptance and change. We support clients in deepening into a more compassionate and loving relationship with themselves and the world by accepting who they truly are. At the same time, we challenge people to examine and move beyond rigid, habitual beliefs or behaviors and develop more alive, creative, and connective ways of being in the world.

Banjo Weymouth, PSYD

Banjo is a licensed clinical psychologist who is passionate about helping people access their innate wisdom and natural proclivity towards healthy functioning in both body and mind. With a background in outdoor education and mountaineering, Banjo has a deep appreciation for the transformative power of adventure and the great outdoors. This has inspired him to work with clients in exploring their inner wilderness, with all of its rawness, challenges, and gifts.

Kerry Weymouth, LCSW, MDiv

Kerry is a licensed clinical social worker who believes that the challenges in our lives provide rich opportunities for self-discovery and growth. With a background in spirituality and chaplaincy work, Kerry has a deep understanding of the transformative power of vulnerability and compassion. She works with clients to develop resiliency and explore the careful balance of acceptance and change, often through exploring how our bodies hold the richness of our emotional experience.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy provides a vital space for identifying, understanding, and transforming our suffering. Our challenges can often provide a gateway to deeper growth, understanding, and insight. By exploring our thought patterns and behaviors, we can cultivate openness, resilience, and kindness towards ourselves and others.

Couples Therapy

Intimate relationships have the potential to be profound vehicles for personal growth and spiritual change. Couples choose to pursue therapy for a tune-up, for help navigating inevitable transitions in the life of a relationship, or to create radical change in the partnership. Our approach to couples therapy is rooted in Relational Life Therapy (RLT), which emphasizes working on oneself rather than one's partner. We help couples develop the skills to be accountable, empathetic, and vulnerable with each other, leading to a deeper and more fulfilling relationship.
