Welcome to Tom Hatley's All-American Driving School, LLC, a business dedicated to teaching driver's education since 2004. Our mission is to provide high-quality driving instruction to young adults in a supportive and individualized environment. We understand that the prospect of driving can be both exciting and daunting for both parents and students, and we strive to alleviate any anxieties by providing comprehensive and accessible education.

Our program is unique in that it is led by a highly qualified and experienced instructor, Tom Hatley. With over 30 years of experience teaching children as a Physical Education teacher, Athletic Director, and High School coach, Tom brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the classroom. His familiarity with the needs and concerns of young adults, combined with his own experience of raising two children, make him an ideal instructor for this important life skill.

Tom Hatley's All-American Driving School offers both in-class and behind-the-wheel instruction, ensuring that students receive a well-rounded education. We believe that both components are essential to developing safe and responsible drivers, and we are committed to providing the highest level of instruction for both.

Behind-the-Wheel Instruction

Our behind-the-wheel instruction is personalized to meet the needs and schedules of our students. We understand that students have busy lives, and we work with them to arrange driving lessons that are convenient and effective. Each lesson lasts 1-2 hours and takes place in a safe and reliable 2015 Honda with automatic transmission and air conditioning. For liability reasons, no other occupants are allowed in the car during lessons, ensuring that students receive the full attention and guidance of our instructor.

In-Class Instruction

Our in-class instruction takes place at the James Island Charter High School (1000 Fort Johnson Road), in a classroom trailer located between the new gym and the football field, on the corner of Athletic drive. Classes are held one Saturday a month, with occasional weekday classes offered during the summer months. Parents are responsible for getting students to and from the classroom, ensuring that they are present and on time for instruction.

Our in-class instruction covers all aspects of driver's education, including traffic laws, safe driving practices, and defensive driving techniques. We believe that a comprehensive understanding of these topics is essential to developing safe and responsible drivers, and we are committed to providing the highest level of instruction for our students.

In addition, Tom Hatley's All-American Driving School is certified to administer the in-vehicle driving test! This means that students can complete the entire driver's education process with us, from the initial classroom instruction to the final driving test.

Enrollment and Scheduling

Enrolling in Tom Hatley's All-American Driving School is easy and convenient. We offer multiple class dates throughout the year, with a maximum of 12 students per class. This ensures that each student receives the individualized attention and instruction they need to become safe and responsible drivers.
