Encinal Yacht Club

Established in 1890, the Encinal Yacht Club is the third oldest yacht club on the Bay, boasting a rich history and a strong tradition of family-oriented social events combined with boating. Club History

The Encinal Yacht Club was founded by residents living in Alameda's Gold Coast, on the south shore of the Island. The club's early days were marked by elaborate events, including moonlit parties and regattas. The club's first clubhouse was designed and built by Commodore Joseph A. Leonard, and was recognized as one of the finest of its type on the Pacific Coast. The club's history is dotted with notable milestones, including the transformation from a large-boat club to a small-boat club during the late 1890s. The club's fleet consisted of sailing canoes, Star boats, Snipes, and El Toros, with most boats built in the workshops at the clubhouse.
