Curriculum

Our curriculum is based on the educational philosophy and pedagogical methods of Dr. Maria Montessori. The Montessori Method includes Junior and Senior Kindergarten beginning at age 3. Our Toddler program is designed around the basic Montessori concept of "freedom within limits." The environment is prepared with age-appropriate materials and exercises that encourage each child's natural curiosity and enthusiasm.

The Bilingual Junior and Senior Kindergarten programs are based on the fundamental tenet that a child learns best within a social environment that supports each individual's unique development. Our French Program incorporates second language instruction during a French circle following Maria Montessori's philosophy.

At Riverside Montessori Pre-School, our Montessori principles emphasize the potential of the young child and which develops this potential by utilizing specially trained teachers and special teaching materials. Montessori recognizes in children a natural curiosity and desire to learn, and our Montessori Materials awaken this desire and channel that curiosity into a learning experience which children enjoy.

Mission Statement

Riverside Montessori Pre-School is based on the educational philosophy and pedagogical methods of Dr. Maria Montessori, pertaining to the instruction and training of children for the purpose of developing their individual ability and maximum potential. Our mission is to create an environment for learning within which children will feel safe, cherished, and empowered. The educational environment fosters respect, cooperation, order, choice within limits and provides children with the opportunity to build themselves to their fullest potential. Our peaceful and non-competitive atmosphere promotes strong moral character and human values. At each stage of development, the child acquires the tools necessary for critical thinking, decision-making and respect for all. Under the guidance of a Montessori trained educator, the child chooses what helps him/her to construct him/herself, which results in a love of life and learning, fostering independence, self-esteem and growth.
