Blending Tradition with Innovation

Gibson Wine Company has built its reputation on the foundation of a rich legacy and a commitment to innovation. Our story began with a group of visionary individuals - E.L. "Ted" Barr, Sr., Frank K. Sayre, Jake Rheingans, Bert Zook, and S.A. "SI" Lines - who recognized the unique potential of the Sanger Winery Association's location in the 1890s. Today, we continue to embody the pioneering spirit of these founders while upholding the time-honored traditions of winemaking.

Our Growers: The Heart of Our Process

At Gibson Wine Company, we value the strength of collaboration, particularly with our dedicated network of 15 expert grape producers. These growers are the backbone of our operation, providing us with the highest quality grapes that form the essential component of our wines. Their expertise and unwavering dedication ensure that we start the winemaking process with the finest raw materials.

Crushing & Pressing: Extracting the Essence

The initial stage of winemaking involves the intricate processes of crushing and pressing. Crushing releases free-flowing juice from the grapes, turning the mixture into what is known as wine must. The subsequent pressing stage separates the solid components from the liquid, retaining the pulp, skin, and fibers that constitute a grape. At Gibson Wine Company, we meticulously carry out these steps to extract the purest and most flavorful juice.

Fermentation & Blending: The Art of Transformation

Fermentation is the pivotal process where yeasts convert the sugars present in the juice into ethanol and carbon dioxide, ultimately shaping the taste, body, and aroma of the wine. At Gibson Wine Company, we blend various varietal wines with artful precision, combining the skill of our winemakers with the science of fermentation to create one superior wine that exhibits the best characteristics of each individual component.

Stabilizing & Aging: Perfecting the Craft

The stabilization process is crucial in preventing further fermentation, while aging enhances the complexity and flavor profile of certain wines. At Gibson Wine Company, we carefully assess each wine to determine the ideal aging period, ensuring that it reaches maturity in the most balanced and harmonious way. Our commitment to careful stewardship at every stage of the winemaking process guarantees that our wines consistently meet the high standards for which we are known.

Filtration & Bottling: The Final Touch

As we approach the final stages of winemaking, fining and filtration processes are employed to refine and finalize the wine just before it is bottled. At Gibson Wine Company, we take great care in selecting the appropriate bottles and bags for packaging our wines, showcasing their unique qualities and enhancing the overall appeal. There's a certain artistry to the bottling process, elevating our wines to a level that truly embodies the philosophy and spirit of Gibson Wine Company.
