Cantera Equestrian is a premier riding center nestled in the picturesque setting of Camas, Washington. Founded on a bedrock of passion and expertise, Cantera offers a comprehensive range of equestrian services, fostering a vibrant community centered around the love and care of horses. Since its inception in 2013, Cantera has evolved from its charming beginnings atop Prune Hill to its current location at a delightful private farm in Camas.

Our riding programs cater to diverse needs and aspirations. From introductory lessons designed to spark a newfound love for horses to advanced training programs geared towards competitive riders, there's a path at Cantera for everyone. We also offer specialized programs for young riders, including a thriving Pony Club and a competitive IEA team, fostering teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.

Summer camps at Cantera provide a fun and enriching environment for children to immerse themselves in the world of horses. Through engaging activities, riding instruction, and hands-on care, participants develop a strong foundation in horsemanship while creating lasting memories.

Meet the Cantera Team

At the heart of Cantera lies a team driven by a shared passion for horses, horsemanship, and nurturing the next generation of equestrian enthusiasts. Each member brings a unique set of skills and experiences to our barn, ensuring a supportive and enriching environment for our riders and horses.

• Julie Kennedy: Owner, Summer Camp Coordinator, Clinics, Billing, Equine Bodywork: Julie's lifelong love of horses began at the tender age of four when she rode her first pony, Jack. Her passion led her to formal lessons in third grade, and she quickly excelled, competing in horse shows throughout her youth and actively participating in 4-H. Julie's commitment to horses extends beyond riding, and she is a licensed Large Animal Massage Therapist, specializing in structural integration. Julie ensures our equine residents are in top physical condition, using her expertise to promote their health and well-being.

• Annemarie Taylor: Owner, Trainer, IEA Head Coach: Annemarie's equestrian journey began at six years old on the East Coast, where she developed a deep love for horses and a wide range of disciplines, including hunt seat equitation, fox hunting, eventing, and flat and timber racing. Her passion for horses continued throughout her education, leading her to earning a BS in Animal Science and representing the University of Delaware Equestrian Team. Annemarie brings her extensive experience and knowledge to Cantera, guiding riders of all levels, from beginners to seasoned competitors.
