At Highlands Judo Dojo, we are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for people of all ages and skill levels to learn the art of Judo. Our mission is to empower individuals to become well-rounded individuals with strong physical and mental abilities, and to promote the values of discipline, respect, and perseverance.
Our Services
Our dojo offers a range of services to cater to the diverse needs of our students. Our classes are designed to be fun, challenging, and rewarding, with a focus on building physical fitness, skill development, and character building. We offer the following classes:
- Junior Class (Ages 6-12): A 45-minute class designed for children and youth aged 6-12 years old, focusing on fundamental Judo techniques and physical conditioning. Classes are offered three times a week on Tuesday and Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons.
- Intermediate Class: A 60-minute class designed for adults and teenagers with some Judo experience, focusing on refining techniques and developing physical fitness. Classes are offered on weekdays and weekends.
- Advanced Class: A 90-minute class designed for serious competitors and dedicated students, focusing on fine-tuning techniques, randori (sparring), and body conditioning exercises. Classes are offered on weeknights and weekends.
- Private Lessons: One-on-one instruction sessions with our Sensei, tailored to individual needs and goals. Private lessons are available on weeknights and weekends.
Our Philosophy
At Highlands Judo Dojo, we believe that Judo is not just a sport, but a way of life. Our philosophy is centered around the principles of discipline, respect, and perseverance. We strive to create a positive and supportive environment where students can grow, learn, and develop their physical and mental abilities.
Our Team
Our Sensei, Tom Tran, is a highly experienced and certified Judo instructor with over 40 years of experience in Judo training and teaching. He is a USA Judo certified national coach and has coached several students to medal-winning performances in local and national tournaments.
Our Facilities
Our dojo is located in Renton, Washington, and we have a dedicated and well-maintained training facility that provides a safe and comfortable environment for our students.
