As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), I, Samantha Laffoon, have been dedicated to supporting adolescents, adults, and couples for over 16 years. My mission is to create a safe and non-judgmental space where individuals can explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and work towards achieving their goals and improving their overall well-being.
My Story
I've always been drawn to understanding the intricacies of the human experience, and I took my first steps along this journey by studying anthropology and sociology at Rhodes College, where I graduated cum laude in 2000. I further honed my skills by earning my Master of Education in Counseling from the University of Houston in 2006.
Throughout my career, I have worked with clients struggling with a wide range of issues, from self-esteem and relationships to shame and trauma. I believe that everyone deserves a safe and supportive environment in which to explore their challenges and work towards growth. My approach is client-centered, and I utilize various therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and trauma-focused therapy, among others.
Therapy Services
My practice offers a variety of therapy services, including individual, couples, and teletherapy sessions. Whether you're seeking to overcome a specific challenge or simply wanting to enhance your overall well-being, I am committed to providing a personalized and holistic approach to ensure your success.
Teletherapy
As an added convenience, I offer teletherapy sessions, which allow us to work together remotely. This option is particularly beneficial for those with busy schedules, limited mobility, or those living in remote areas.
Coaching Services
In addition to therapy, I also offer coaching services, which focus on helping individuals set and achieve specific goals. Whether you're looking to improve your time management skills, develop healthier coping mechanisms, or enhance your overall resilience, I am committed to providing guidance and support tailored to your unique needs.
What is the difference between therapy and coaching?
Therapy focuses more on understanding the underlying reasons behind patterns of behavior, while coaching focuses more on supporting individuals in achieving specific goals.
What can therapy do for me?
Therapy provides a safe space to share concerns, feel heard, and work towards overcoming challenges. Beyond that, therapy lays the foundation for self-exploration, goal-setting, and healthier coping mechanisms.
How often will I need to come to therapy?
The frequency of sessions depends on the issues being addressed, personal schedules, and available funds. We will work together to establish a schedule that is both productive and affordable.
How do I find the right therapist?
Finding the right therapist is a personal choice. I encourage you to get a feel for my personality style and therapeutic approach. Additional questions about teletherapy or logistics can be addressed through a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation.
Payment Policy
Payments are made after each session and can be made through Venmo, check, or all major credit cards. I am not an in-network provider for any insurance panel, but I will provide a Superbill upon request to help facilitate reimbursement through your insurance provider.
