The Children's House is a non-profit, non-denominational Montessori preschool that has been serving families in the West Essex community since 1966. Our school is committed to providing an education that enables each child to reach their highest potential.
Our Programs
At The Children's House, we understand that every family is unique, with different schedules and needs. That's why we offer a variety of programs to fit your family's lifestyle. Our programs range from 2.5 years old to 6 years old, and we cater to children from Verona, Cedar Grove, Montclair, Glen Ridge, Belleville, Bloomfield, The Caldwells, Roseland, Essex Fells, and West Orange. We have morning, afternoon, full-day programs, as well as a separate Young Three Program for children who have reached the age of 2 by April 1st. Additionally, we offer a kindergarten enrichment program for children currently attending a morning kindergarten program. Our Lunch Bunch program and After Care provide children with the opportunity to socialize and learn outside of the school setting.
Inside Our Classroom
Our Montessori classroom is designed to support children's growth and development. Every material and activity is carefully prepared to refine existing skills or introduce new ones. Practical life skills, sensory exploration, and exposure to math and reading concepts are all part of our curriculum. We also place a strong emphasis on music and art.
About Dr. Montessori
Dr. Maria Montessori believed that children pass through sensitive periods of development early in life, and that it is during this stage that they have the ability to learn and assimilate from the world around them without conscious effort. A Montessori teacher recognizes and takes advantage of these highly perceptive stages through the introduction of materials and activities that are specially designed to stimulate the intellect.
