Empowering Humans, Enriching Horses, One Ride at a Time
Nestled above the shimmering blue waters of Colvos Passage, Northwest Horse Equine Connection (NHEC) is a premier adult equestrian facility that offers a unique and enriching experience for individuals seeking solace and growth through equine friendships. As a privately-owned establishment, NHEC is dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for both horses and humans to connect and learn from one another.
Under the guidance of Sabrina Duncan, an experienced Equine Behaviorist and industry professional, NHEC offers a wide range of services tailored to meet the needs of its clients. From horse training and lessons to trail rides and obstacle courses, NHEC provides a holistic approach to equine-assisted activities that promote physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Our Philosophy
At NHEC, we believe that horses have a lot to teach us about ourselves and the world around us. That's why we've developed a Mindful and Relational Horsemanship paradigm that honors the essence and well-being of both horse and human. Through relational horsemanship, we strive to create a peaceful environment where horses can be teachers for self-discovery, empowering our clients to become attuned to their thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
Adult Lesson Program
Our Adult Lesson Program is designed for adults of all experience levels, from beginners to seasoned riders. With a focus on mindful and relational horsemanship, our lessons go beyond traditional riding instruction, allowing clients to establish trust and communication with their equine partners. Our School Horses are carefully selected and trained to provide a safe and enjoyable learning experience for our clients.
Our Haul-in Lesson Program is perfect for those who already have a horse and are looking for a supportive and experienced trainer. Our trainers work closely with both horse and rider to establish clear communication, awareness, and openness, creating a successful human-horse partnership.
Training Program
At NHEC, we believe that a successful training program is about more than just developing a horse's skills under saddle. Our Relational Training program cultivates a deeper connection between horse and human, shaping the horse's ability to engage and feel understood by their human counterparts. We limit our training program to a maximum of 3 horses per month, ensuring that each horse is given the time and attention they deserve to become attuned to our trainers and develop a strong foundation of communication.
As an owner and your horse's best friend, we urge you to participate in the training process. By developing alongside your horse, you'll foster a deeper understanding and bond that will last a lifetime.
Our Horses
Each NHEC Lesson Horse is carefully raised and educated through our breeding and training programs, ensuring that they have distinct and amazing personalities to share with our clients. Our horses are more than just lesson partners; they are teachers, friends, and healers who help set NHEC apart from other lesson programs.
At NHEC, we are committed to preserving the peaceful energy of our environment and sharing the horse as a teacher for self-discovery. We invite you to join us on this journey of growth and self-discovery, where you'll learn valuable life lessons and create unforgettable memories with our equine friends.
