Rainy Day Ranch

Rainy Day Ranch Therapeutic Riding Center is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that serves our community by offering adaptive horseback riding lessons and hippotherapy to children and adults with disabilities or special needs. Our mission is to empower, educate, and uplift through positive and therapeutic interactions with equine partners. We believe in the healing power of horses and strive to share this with our community.

Our story began with Ella, a local girl with Rett Syndrome, who greatly benefited from equine-assisted therapies. Her parents were inspired by her progress and wanted to provide the same opportunities to others in the community. As local programs have changed, an increased need for therapeutic riding has developed, and Rainy Day Ranch was started to fill this gap.

Our Services

We offer a variety of programs and services at Rainy Day Ranch Therapeutic Riding Center, including adaptive riding lessons and physical therapy programs. These programs are designed to provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals with physical, cognitive, and emotional disabilities and struggles to learn horsemanship skills and experience the therapeutic benefits of horseback riding.

Our adaptive riding lessons are tailored to meet the specific needs of each rider, regardless of their ability level. Our trained instructors work closely with riders to help them build confidence, improve their balance and coordination, and develop a strong bond with their horse. These lessons not only provide physical benefits but also help riders develop emotional stability and self-esteem.

Our physical therapy program, also known as hippotherapy, is a form of physical therapy that utilizes the movement of a horse to provide a dynamic and challenging environment for patients. This type of therapy can help improve balance, posture, strength, and coordination, as well as provide emotional benefits such as increased self-confidence and independence.

Our Team

At Rainy Day Ranch Therapeutic Riding Center, we have a dedicated team of professionals who are passionate about providing high-quality therapeutic riding and physical therapy programs. Our team includes PATH CTRI certified instructors who have extensive experience working with individuals with disabilities and special needs. They are committed to ensuring that all riders and patients receive a safe and supportive environment to learn and grow.

Brooke Lopez, our Executive and Program Director, leads our team with positivity, safety, and fun. She has a degree in Equestrian Therapy and a minor in Psychology from Rocky Mountain College and is a mentor for individuals interested in getting their CTRI certification through PATH Intl.

Getting Involved

Rainy Day Ranch Therapeutic Riding Center offers numerous volunteer opportunities for individuals who want to get involved and make a difference in our community. Volunteers are essential to giving safe and effective lessons and keeping our operation running smoothly. Whether you have experience with horses or not, we have a place for you on our team.

We also offer sponsorship opportunities for those who want to support our mission and help us continue to provide therapeutic riding and physical therapy programs to our community. You can sponsor a horse or buy a bale of hay to help us keep our horses moving and our programs running.
