We offer a relaxed and historic setting where you can enjoy creative Midwestern comfort food made from scratch daily using primarily local, seasonal ingredients. Our Services

At Babcock's Grove House, we provide an intimate setting with vintage, conversation-level music and a purposeful lack of televisions, allowing our guests to enjoy good food, company, and conversation. Our menu features a variety of local beers and old-timey sodas, as well as thoughtfully selected wines from the West and Pacific Northwest regions that change weekly.

Our restaurant is divided into two main services: counter service by day and full table service at night. Counter service is available from 11am to 4:30 pm, providing a casual and convenient dining option for our guests. Full table service begins at 4:00 pm, offering a more traditional dining experience in the evening.

Our Location

Babcock's Grove House is located in a historic building constructed in 1858, prior to the Civil War. It was originally built as a hotel and named Babcock's Grove House, and it's rumored that the hotel was built to accommodate the Republican National Convention of 1860. Over the course of 150 years, much has changed in the building, but many original items remain or can be seen on display at the Lombard Historical Society, located within walking distance of our restaurant.

As Lombardians, we embrace our history and community. Subtle nods to both can be seen in our decor, menu, and logo. We are crazy for lilacs and want to share our pride with everyone. We source our ingredients locally whenever possible, including a few herbs and vegetables grown in our gardens, demonstrating our commitment to supporting local businesses and sustainable practices.
