Family Karate Center Of Tavares

Situated in the heart of Tavares and Lake County, Florida, the Family Karate Center of Tavares is a proud member of the Traditional Karate Association. We offer traditional Japanese Karate instruction under the expertise of Renshi Scott Quint. Our style is Sansei Shito Ryu with Goshin Budo Jiu Jitsu and Dento Ryu Kobudo, providing a comprehensive martial arts experience for our students. We focus on building Karate skills through patience, discipline, and control, fostering an environment where students of all abilities can thrive.

Our Traditional Karate Program

Shito Ryu is one of the four major Karate styles practiced today, founded by Kenwa Mabuni in 1931. With its roots in Shuri Te and Naha Te, our style preserves the rich heritage of these older forms. At the Family Karate Center of Tavares, we maintain the purity of Shito Ryu by practicing Sansei Shito Ryu from the Traditional Karate Association under Kaicho Rick Adams. Our reference materials include footage of legendary Karate Masters, ensuring that our techniques and kata remain true to the original teachings of the art.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu - A Complete Grappling Style

We are proud to offer Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as a separate class by Brian Ruscio from Gracie Barra Orlando. This hybrid style combines the best techniques of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with Greco-Roman Wrestling, Judo, Sambo, and other submission styles such as Catch-as-Catch-Can. Classes are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, offering students a well-rounded grappling experience.

Our team of dedicated instructors is led by Shihan Dai Scott Quint, who has over 35 years of Martial Arts experience and a 6th degree Black Belt in Karate. Our instructors bring extensive knowledge and expertise in various Karate styles and Goshin Budo Jiu Jitsu, creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment for all students.
