We believe that wine uplifts our relationships with others.
At Schermeister Winery, we're passionate about crafting exceptional wines that not only delight the palate but also bring people together. Our story begins with a chance encounter over a bottle of Pinot Noir, which led to a lifelong partnership between winemaker Robert Schermeister and his wife Laura. As a team, they have built a winery that embodies their shared values of sustainability, innovation, and a love for the art of winemaking.
Our Winemaking Philosophy
For us, winemaking is not just about creating wine, but about sharing moments of joy and connection with others. We believe that great wine uplifts our relationships and brings people together. Our philosophy is built on a commitment to sustainability, native fermentation, and a passion for sharing our story with others. We use native yeasts to give our wines big aroma, more flavor, and supple texture. Our wines are also unfined and unfiltered, making them vegan-friendly with no animal by-products used in our process. We never add any adjuncts or lab-created yeasts to our wines, ever.
Our Story
Our love story began with a chance encounter over a bottle of Pinot Noir, and it's a tale of fantasies come true. Robert, a talented winemaker, started his own winery in 2012, while Laura, a graphic designer, was looking for a change of pace. Their first meeting was uneventful, but their subsequent meetings sparked a genuine passion for wine and each other. As they explored the rolling hills of Napa Valley, took pictures in vineyards, and talked over bottles of wine, their relationship blossomed.
The Journey
Fast forward to today, Robert and Laura are the sole owners and operators of their winery, and they've built a reputation for crafting exceptional wines that showcase the best of Sonoma Valley's vineyards. From winemaking to label design, to running their Glen Ellen tasting room, they really do it all with love. Their story is a testament to the power of love, friendship, and a shared passion for wine.
