At Bayou Village School, our mission is to foster children who meet the world with a caring heart, clarity of thought, and responsibility to initiate change through critical thinking and compassionate action. We aim to create a nurturing environment that generates a lifelong enthusiasm for learning, where our teachers educate the whole child - head, heart, and hands - through creative, artistic, and experiential curriculum.

Waldorf Education
We are inspired by the principles of Waldorf Education, a philosophy that emphasizes the importance of play, creativity, and imagination. Waldorf Education has its roots in the research of Rudolf Steiner, who believed that the human being is a threefold being of spirit, soul, and body whose capacities unfold in three developmental stages on the path to adulthood. We believe that every child is unique and deserves a tailored approach to learning that honors their individuality and creativity.
Our Programs
Our programs are designed to foster a love of learning, creativity, and self-expression. We offer a variety of programs for children from toddlers to grade 5, with the addition of grade 6 starting the 2024-2025 school year. Our curriculum is designed to challenge and engage our students, providing a well-rounded education that prepares them for success in all aspects of life.

About Us
Bayou Village School was founded in 2010 with the goal of providing accessible Waldorf education to Central Houston. We are proud to be a part of the vibrant community of Greater Northside, Houston, with a diverse population of over 30 languages spoken in our city. Our teachers and families reflect our city's diversity, and we strive to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.
Our Community
We believe that community is the crux of our organization. We reinforce the bond of our school-wide community through parent education, seasonal festivals, and volunteer efforts throughout the school year. As a 501c3 Non-Profit, part of our mission is to also provide Waldorf-inspired education opportunities to all families, through community service programs, financial aid scholarships, and more.
