At Greenaction for Health and Environmental Justice, we are a multiracial grassroots organization that has been fighting for social, economic, environmental, and climate justice for over two decades. Our mission is to mobilize community power to win victories that change government and corporate policies and practices to protect health and promote environmental justice.
Our Story
We were founded in 1997 by grassroots community leaders who were passionate about creating a just and equitable society. Our founders recognized that low-income and working-class communities, particularly urban, rural, and indigenous communities, were disproportionately affected by environmental pollution and degradation. They knew that these communities were fighting for their rights and dignity, and that environmental justice was a fundamental human right.
Our Impact
Over the years, we have made significant strides in advancing environmental and social justice. We have worked with communities to promote clean air and water, clean up contaminated sites, and protect indigenous lands. We have also advocated for policies that promote renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions. Our work has been recognized nationally and internationally, and we have partnered with organizations and individuals from around the world to advance environmental and social justice.
