Bay Area Tutoring Center

The Bay Area Tutoring Centers, Inc. is a private tutoring center that welcomes students of all academic backgrounds and grade levels. We offer individualized tutoring in math, science, English, language arts, history, and SAT/ACT. Our tutors don't just provide answers; they teach each concept as a stepping-stone to the next and challenge students to reflect on their answers to discover new approaches. Many students benefit from ongoing weekly sessions, but others prefer scheduling sessions on an "as-needed" basis. We do not have contracts or session minimums, and there are no registration fees. Programs are available throughout the school year as well as over the summer.

At Bay Area Tutoring Centers, our mission is to enhance the academic performance of our students by improving their skills, self-confidence, and understanding of their subjects. We strive to provide individualized attention to every student, customizing each session based on their personal and academic needs. Our programs are designed to complement the curricula of local schools, combining current concepts, review, and new material in an engaging and motivating way.

Our Services

We offer a wide range of services, including K-8, high school, and college-level tutoring, SAT and ACT preparation, and summer tutoring programs. Our tutors are experienced in a variety of subjects, including math, science, English, language arts, and history. We offer flexible scheduling options, including in-person, online, and hybrid sessions, to accommodate the busy schedules of our students.

Our History

In our 36+ years of serving the Berkeley and San Ramon communities, Bay Area Tutoring Centers, Inc. has established close relationships with local schools and families. Our Berkeley center opened in 1988 and has continued to thrive, serving Berkeley, Oakland, Albany, and surrounding communities. In 1996, we opened our second center in San Ramon, which serves students from San Ramon, Danville, Concord, and surrounding areas. Online tutoring means that we are available to students outside of the Bay Area as well.
