Our instructors are highly trained and experienced professionals who are dedicated to helping each student achieve their goals. Meet our team of dedicated instructors, led by our Head Professor and Owner, Daniel "Coyote" Souza.
About Our Founder
Professor Daniel "Coyote" Souza was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and raised in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He began training Judo in 1981 and started training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Master Rui Diniz Ferreira, 7th Degree Coral Belt and Master Hilton Leao Silva, 9th Degree Red Belt. He earned his degree in Physical Education in 1998 and founded Coyote Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Brazil in 2000.
Our Story
Our story began in Brazil, where Professor Souza founded his academy and taught Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to students from all over the world. In 2002, he moved to the United States and began teaching in San Diego, CA. In 2016, he moved to Albuquerque, NM and founded Coyote Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy/Carlson Gracie Team.
