Our Story
Renzo Gracie Academy has a long history, dating back to 1996. Our founder, Renzo Gracie, is a senior member of the famous Gracie family of Jiu-Jitsu teachers and fighters who have had a profound impact on the martial arts world. Renzo's grandfather, Carlos Gracie, is widely recognized as one of the founders of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Renzo's son, Rocky Gracie, is also a renowned instructor in his own right.
Our Expertise
Our instructors are some of the best in the world. Our Head Professor, Max McGarr, is a second-degree black belt under Master Renzo Gracie and John Danaher. With over 16 years of training and teaching experience, Max has had the privilege of learning from some of the greatest instructors in the world. He has spent over 10 years teaching at our flagship academy in New York City, and has a deep understanding of the Renzo Gracie system.
Our Programs

Fundamentals
