Empowering individuals to take control of their health and wellness
At A. Rafanelli Winery, we are proud to carry on a family tradition that spans four generations. Since the early 1900s, our family has been growing grapes and making wine in the beautiful Dry Creek Valley. Today, we remain dedicated to our family's legacy of producing exceptional wines, specializing in some of the finest Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot.
Setting Roots
Our story began with Italian immigrants Alberto and Letizia Rafanelli, who first founded A. Rafanelli Winery in the early 1900s. They settled in Healdsburg and started growing grapes and making wine, cultivating a legacy that would be passed down through the generations.
Cultivating a Legacy
After prohibition, Alberto and Letizia's son Americo showed interest in the family business and was soon carrying on the tradition. He moved the winery to its current location in the Dry Creek Valley in the early 1950s, where he began to focus on the cultivation of premium Zinfandel grapes. In the early 1970s, Americo offered his first commercial release with the iconic A. Rafanelli Winery label.
Defining Excellence
Following in Americo's footsteps, his son David earned a degree in Viticulture from UC Davis and began to seek out the best land to plant more varietals for the winery portfolio. David and his wife Patty continued the family business and propelled it to a new level of excellence.
Preserving the Tradition
Today, David and Patty's eldest daughter, Shelly Rafanelli, is the head winemaker at A. Rafanelli Winery. With the help of her husband Craig Fehlman, who manages all of their vineyards, they hope to carry on the family tradition and continue improving the wines. Shelly's sister, Stacy, is in charge of daily operations at the winery.
