Meet the Owners, Make it Memorable

Welcome to Schwaesdall Winery, a family-owned and operated winery located in the heart of the Ramona Valley. Our winery is nestled among gigantic granite boulders that are a true natural wonder, and offers a unique and intimate setting for wine tastings and events.

The Ramona Valley, known as "The Valley of the Sun, " has similar soil types to Sonoma County and is often referred to as the "Rhone Valley of California." The area is rich in history, with native American Indians settling here as far back as the 1850s. The region's mild climate and abundant water supply made it an attractive location for farming and agriculture, including the historic turkey industry that once thrived here.

Our winery was founded by John Schwaesdall, a San Diego native, who began making wine from some of the old vineyards in Ramona that were planted in the 1950s. Over the years, we have continued to plant and cultivate our vineyards, currently covering 6 acres of land. Our wines are made from a variety of red and white grape varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Syrah.
