Our History
Mattern & Craig was founded in Roanoke, Virginia in February 1978 by J. Wayne Craig and E. K. Mattern, Jr. Our founders established the firm with a vision to offer comprehensive civil and sanitary engineering services to public, corporate, and governmental agencies. Over the years, we have expanded our capabilities to include experts in transportation, structural engineering, surveying, site planning, and solid waste management. Today, we have offices in six locations, including Kingsport, Tennessee, Asheville, North Carolina, Johnson City, Tennessee, Hickory, North Carolina, and Charleston, South Carolina.
