History & Executive Team

Lumsden Associates, P.C. was founded in 1968 by Buford T. Lumsden, a visionary who began his career in drafting and surveying as a teen. Over the years, the company has grown and evolved, expanding its services and personnel to meet the needs of the Roanoke Valley and beyond. Today, the company is led by a team of experienced professionals who are dedicated to continuing the legacy of quality work and exceptional service that has been the hallmark of Lumsden Associates, P.C. since its inception.

Tom Dale is a Virginia Tech graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He began working at Lumsden Associates in 1997 and became President in 2015. With a focus on land development, Tom enjoys seeing projects through from start to finish. He is an active member of local associations and serves on committees to stay up-to-date on current regulations.

Larry Ogle is a third-generation land surveyor with a passion for helping others. He began surveying in high school and joined Lumsden Associates in 1996. In 2016, he became Vice-President and Director of Surveying. Larry specializes in land title, flood plain, and construction surveys and is an active volunteer in his local community.

Vice-President & Director of Engineering: Andrew Lumsden

Andrew Lumsden began working for Lumsden Associates in high school and joined the company full-time after completing a dual degree program in Physics and Civil Engineering. He became Director of Engineering in 2016 and specializes in planning, designing, and managing civil engineering projects. Andrew is an active member of local associations and enjoys staying up-to-date on the latest industry trends and best practices.
