Our History
Alon's Bakery & Market's journey began in 1992 when Alon Balshan, with the support of his father Maurice, opened the first 1300 square foot location in the Virginia Highland area of Atlanta. Balshan's passion for rich flavors and superior quality led him to choose only the freshest ingredients for his creations. Over the years, Alon's has expanded and evolved, introducing a market section offering a gourmet selection of freshly prepared deli items, including soups, sandwiches, salads, breads, artisan cheeses, and wines. Today, Alon's Bakery & Market includes two locations, both offering a one-stop shop for everyday gourmet foods and the best place to shop for holiday favorites.
Meet Alon
Alon Balshan, Pastry Chef and Owner of Alon's Bakery & Market, is an Israeli native who developed a love for baking and cooking at a young age. After serving in the Israeli military, Alon attended Tadmor Culinary School in Israel and worked in European bakeries and hotels. In 1986, he moved to the United States with a one-way plane ticket, $500, and a dream of opening his own bakery. After working in Atlanta as a pastry chef in various establishments, Alon realized his dream by founding Alon's Bakery & Market. Today, he oversees the business's operations and management, continuously developing new recipes and refining current offerings for his customers.
