A Rich History and Philanthropic Mission

East Lake Golf Club, located in Atlanta, Georgia, is not only a historic golf course but also a philanthropic organization. Since its establishment in 1898, the Club has a long history of promoting athletics and supporting charitable partners. Our mission is to provide a welcoming and challenging golfing experience, while also giving back to the community through our charitable efforts.

From Humble Beginnings to a Legendary Golf Course

Our journey began in 1898 when a group of 65 men, led by Burton Smith, formed the Atlanta Athletic Club (AAC). The Club initially had no golf course, but four years later, it had more than 700 members. John Heisman, the Georgia Tech football coach, directed the Club's athletic program, which included swimming, tennis, basketball, and track. The AAC added golf to its program in 1904, establishing the East Lake Country Club on the site where East Lake Golf Club exists today.

A Legendary Golf Course

In 1908, the Club opened its 18-hole golf course, designed by Tom Bendelow. The course was renovated by renowned golf course architect Donald Ross in 1913, and it has undergone several transformations since then. Today, the course is a challenging and picturesque layout, hosting the TOUR Championship and inspiring golfers of all skill levels.

A Home for Golf Legends

East Lake has been the permanent home of the TOUR Championship since 2005. The tournament, the culminating event of the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedEx Cup, attracts the world's top golfers. The Club has hosted numerous PGA TOUR events and has been the venue for many iconic golf moments.

Philanthropy and Community

Our commitment to philanthropy is deeply rooted in our history. The East Lake Foundation, founded in 2013, focuses on transforming communities through education, healthcare, and opportunities. We partner with organizations to provide support to those in need, making a positive impact on the lives of many.

Future of the Course

In 2023, architect Andrew Green will lead a complete renovation of the course, inspired by previously unknown photos. This exciting development will ensure that East Lake remains a premier golfing destination for years to come.
