At Piper Preschool, we believe that every child is capable, competent, and creative. We understand that choosing the right preschool is a significant decision, and we're committed to earning your trust. Our philosophy is built on the principles of inquiry, process, and delayed gratification. We motivate learning by focusing on effort, not just the product. Our expert teachers guide children as they figure things out, unlocking lasting confidence and resilience.
We've been serving the community since 2009, with a history dating back to the 1970s for some of our team members. When building Piper, every detail was a deliberate decision, from the furniture and lighting to the materials and paint color. Our goal is to create a warm and welcoming environment that feels like a home away from home.
Our program is designed for parents, babies, toddlers, and all the way through Pre-K (TK). We've been refining our approach for 15 years, and our faculty and teachers are our greatest assets. We provide competitive salaries, comprehensive health coverage, a 401K plan, ongoing professional development, paid vacation, and a range of benefits to ensure they're supported in their own journeys.
Our Founder's Story
Our founder, Crystal Free, began her career in admissions at Brentwood School. She saw a need for quality preschools in Los Angeles and brought her vision to life on a napkin. Piper opened its doors in 2009, followed by the launch of two more campuses in 2013. Today, we have four locations in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, Orange County, and Manhattan Beach. Crystal's passion is building a community where parents can share worries, seek advice, and celebrate the wins.
Enrichment Opportunities
We offer a wide range of enrichment classes, including music, messy art, studio art, dance, kidyasa, sign-language, gardening, and woodshop. Our philosophy is to encourage exploration and creativity, and we're always looking for new and innovative ways to engage our students.
Inspired Outdoors
At Piper, we believe in the importance of inspired outdoor spaces. Our campuses feature curated environments with signature water features and abundant greenery. We invite you to come early, stay late, and enjoy the convenience of our pick-up and drop-off options.

Positive Experiences
The preschool has received positive reviews for its friendly and welcoming staff, who greet children with smiles and hugs. The teachers are described as nice, and the school provides a great learning environment where children can learn and thrive.
Negative Experiences
On the other hand, the school has also received negative reviews, with some parents expressing concerns about the staff's intentions and behaviors. Specifically, some parents have questioned the motives of the lead staff, who left their previous school abruptly and allegedly without consideration for the families and remaining staff. There are also concerns about the school's financial situation and the potential for tuition money to be embroiled in a lawsuit.
Staff and Management
One of the main concerns raised by parents is the behavior of the lead staff, including Crystal and Jesse, who are accused of prioritizing their own interests over those of the children and families. There are allegations of favoritism, with some parents receiving preferential treatment and gifts from the director.
