Counseling Services

At Hope and Restoration Counseling, we provide individual therapy for adults dealing with various concerns, including:

1. Grief and loss

2. Depression

3. Anxiety

4. Self-esteem

5. Relationship issues

6. Work-life balance

7. Career exploration and professional identity

8. Stress management

9. Conflict resolution

Our clinical approach is integrative, strength-based, and non-judgmental, focusing on exploring thoughts, feelings, meaning-making, and developing positive coping skills. Counseling may initially seem intimidating; however, it can be a transformative process with the right support and guidance. Our goal is to create a safe, supportive environment for clients to navigate their healing journey.

Grief Support Group

In addition to individual therapy, we offer a free in-person grief support group for adults who have experienced the death of a loved one. The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 6:30-8:00 PM at Life Church Southfield (21840 W. Nine Mile Rd., Southfield, Mi 48075). The group covers topics such as understanding grief, feeling exploration, healthy coping skills, six needs of mourning, grieving during the holidays, and other relevant themes.

Consultation and Training

Dr. Matthews is available for grief training, consultation, and speaking engagements for individuals and organizations. She has extensive experience presenting on grief and loss within the African American community and multicultural competence at national, international, and general audiences.

Rates and Insurance

We believe that counseling is an investment in health, wellness, and overall quality of life. Our standard 50-minute individual sessions are $130, and we accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards for payment. For companies interested in support groups for employees, please contact us for special arrangements. We do not accept insurance plans at this time, but we are happy to provide receipts for out-of-network reimbursement purposes.
