At Hart Foundation Inc., we understand that life can be overwhelming, and that's why we're dedicated to providing comprehensive outpatient behavioral and mental health services to individuals of all genders, including children, adolescents, young adults, and college students from diverse backgrounds. Our mission is to provide evidence-based effective support and treatment for a wide range of concerns, such as eating issues, body image, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, family issues, relationship difficulties, physical health concerns, and sport-related injuries.
Our Approach
We take a multidisciplinary team approach to treatment, collaborating closely with medical healthcare providers, social workers, dietitians, as well as school, college, and athletic staff members. By working together, we ensure that each client receives holistic, personalized care that addresses not only their specific mental health needs but also any physical or environmental factors that may contribute to their well-being.
Treatment Options
Our therapeutic treatment approaches encompass a variety of evidence-based modalities, including Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness therapies, Family-based treatment including the Maudsley Method, Exposure and Response Prevention, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Interpersonal Therapies. These approaches are highly effective in promoting self-awareness, resilience, and empowering individuals to navigate and overcome their challenges.
Specialized Services
We specialize in treating eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, ARFID, compulsive overeating, orthorexia, OCD-related eating disorders, and other eating-related issues. We also work with individuals with body dysmorphic disorder, body dysthymia, and substance use disorders in conjunction with eating issues.
Led by Dr. Kathleen Hart
As a licensed psychologist with over 15 years of experience, Dr. Hart is dedicated to helping individuals achieve lasting mental wellness. Dr. Hart has a private practice in Falmouth, Maine, and has been recognized for her expertise in treating eating disorders, trauma, anxiety, and mood disorders. She has also conducted research on the relationship between parental attachments, sex roles, and eating disorders.
Research and Presentations
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Hart has dedicated a portion of her career to psychological research. She has published research findings in reputable journals, and has presented at numerous conferences and training conferences on eating disorders, substance use disorders, and related topics.
