Our story began in the Merriam Park neighborhood, where the Kern brothers, raised by "Pappy" Kern, learned the value of hard work and dedication. While attending schools like St. Mark's Catholic School and St. Thomas High School, the brothers honed their mechanical skills and work ethic under Pappy's guidance, forming the foundation for their future success. In 1984, Pappy Kern ignited the first spark of the business by purchasing his eldest son a modest lawn mower. This humble beginning blossomed into a legacy spanning over three decades, transforming Kern Lawn and Landscape into one of the Twin Cities' most respected and knowledgeable lawn care and landscaping companies. The business transitioned across generations, eventually being entrusted to the capable hands of John and Peter Kern, who continue to operate as the heart of Kern Lawn and Landscape. John and Peter, both residents of the Mac Groveland neighborhood, carry forward the family's values of excellence, reliability, and personalized customer service.
