Black Fire Winery & Brewery stands as a testament to one man's unwavering passion for the art of viticulture and the joy of sharing handcrafted beverages. Founded by Michael Wells in 2016, our journey began with a dream to cultivate exceptional wines and uniquely crafted brews, all while fostering a welcoming and inclusive space for the community.

From Vineyard to Bottle

Michael's journey toward winemaking began with a deep reverence for the natural world and a desire to create something truly special. Inspired by his experiences working as a lieutenant for a fire department, he decided to pursue a deeper understanding of viticulture and enology. His studies at Michigan State University honed his skills and led to the meticulous planting of 5 acres of grapes in Lenawee County, making him the first in the area to cultivate commercial vineyards.
