Encouraging the curiosity of children to discover their greatness.

Welcome to our Montessori schools in Calabasas. At Montessori of Calabasas and Montessori of Calabasas Too, we are committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can grow, learn, and thrive. Our teachers are carefully selected for their Montessori-based belief that children develop and learn best in a loving and supportive atmosphere. We believe that each child is unique and capable of greatness, and we strive to provide them with the tools and experiences they need to reach their full potential.

Our classrooms are designed to be safe, clean, and welcoming spaces where children can explore and discover themselves and the world around them. We believe in the importance of diversity and acceptance, and we encourage each child to express their individuality and uniqueness. Our classrooms are equipped with Montessori materials, which are specifically designed to stimulate curiosity, provide ordered and sequential learning, and ensure that each child experiences the pride and joy of completing tasks successfully. Our Montessori-trained teachers use these materials to guide and support each child's learning journey, providing positive reinforcement and encouragement every step of the way.

At Montessori of Calabasas and Montessori of Calabasas Too, we are all engaged in a shared educational experience that lasts a lifetime. We invite you and your child to join us on our journey of discovery and learning, where we explore the great world around us and the greatness within us.

What is Montessori?

The Montessori Method was developed in the early 1900s by Dr. Maria Montessori, who based her method on the premise that each child is born with a natural curiosity and drive to develop themselves. She believed that children learn best through their senses and by having the freedom to explore materials that are a part of their prepared environment. Dr. Montessori designed a "prepared environment" that allows all children to work and develop at their own pace, using materials that are carefully designed to teach specific skills and concepts.

At Montessori of Calabasas and Montessori of Calabasas Too, we have implemented a prepared environment that allows all children to be successful and reach their fullest potential. Our Montessori-trained teachers use materials that are designed to self-teach, with a "control of error" that enables them to evaluate each child's understanding and provide positive reinforcement and encouragement. Our goal is to motivate and stimulate each child's natural desire to learn and grow.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is based on the Montessori Method and is designed to provide a comprehensive and well-rounded education for each child. We offer a variety of subjects, including:

  • Practical Life: This subject area focuses on developing practical skills and independence, such as dressing oneself, pouring liquids, and using utensils.
  • Sensorial: This subject area uses materials that stimulate the five senses to develop a child's ability to observe, classify, and compare.
  • Language: This subject area focuses on developing oral language skills, reading, and writing.
  • Mathematics: This subject area uses hands-on materials to develop a child's understanding of mathematical concepts, including numbers, shapes, and patterns.
  • Cultural Studies: This subject area includes geography, history, and science, and is designed to help children develop an awareness and appreciation of the world around them.

Philosophy

Our philosophy is based on the Montessori belief that children learn best through hands-on experiences and exploration. We believe that each child is unique and capable of greatness, and we strive to provide them with the tools and experiences they need to reach their full potential. We are committed to creating a nurturing and supportive environment where children can grow, learn, and thrive.
