Our Story

Founded by Soke Larry Barr, Barr Karate was born out of a simple idea: to bring high-quality, accessible, and traditional martial arts training to the community. Based on Seido Ryu (Way of Life Style) principles, our focused approach to training, and experienced and caring instructors, make our dojo one of the best karate schools in Bergen County.

Our Services

Meet Soke Barr

Soke Grandmaster Larry Barr is a 10th-degree black belt and the founder of Seido Ryu Karate. With almost 35 years of experience, Soke Barr has volunteered his time and passion for the martial arts towards helping youth through the power of karate. He has worked with some of the most prestigious martial artists, and has even traveled and trained in Okinawa, Japan, with some of his students.
