Creek's Edge Winery

Our Story

At Creek's Edge Winery, our journey began with a dream. In 2002, our founder, Tedd Durden, envisioned a legacy for his three children. After moving to a beautiful property overlooking the Catoctin Creek in Historic Taylorstown, Virginia, Tedd purchased neighboring land to create a vineyard. The vineyard includes 4.5 acres under vine, planted on a 17% grade, featuring varietals such as Chambourcin, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Initially, the grapes were intended to be sold to other vineyards, but as the vines matured, Tedd saw a new vision for a winery come together.

With a background in construction, Tedd designed the building that now houses our gorgeous tasting room and winemaking cellar. It was a labor of love, with Tedd's children and other young men in the community building out the space. Tedd mentored these young community members from high school through their college years, instilling in them skills and mentorship that set up the foundation for successful futures. The same young men return every summer to work in the winery. In fact, our Water's Edge White wine is named after the kids who helped, along with personalized labels.

For Tedd, it was less a means of building four walls; rather, it was a chance to build a spirit of community as well as a business for his children to grow and enjoy for years to come. With this legacy in mind, every effort was made to partner with the land, rather than change it, to reduce the impact on the surrounding environment and wildlife.

Our Winery

Our winery, which hosts a tasting room of rustic elegance, a bridal loft, and a barrel room, is an Amish structure crafted with the best hardwoods. Based on the tradition of raised barns, the structure has a vibe from years long passed. Natural materials were used throughout the building, including local stone, black walnut from the property, and handcrafted metalwork. A fieldstone fireplace provides a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for special occasions or simply enjoying a glass of wine.

Our Services

At Creek's Edge Winery, we offer a variety of services including wine tastings, wine by the glass or bottle, a full menu of traditional and seasonal food offerings, and a venue for events. Our winemaker creates award-winning wines using our homegrown grapes. We also have an exclusive wine club and offer wine and chocolate pairing classes.
