High & Mighty Therapeutic Riding and Driving Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to engaging the power of the horse-human connection to provide physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being to individuals of all abilities. We are a PATH Premier Accredited Center, founded in 2010, and have been recognized for our commitment to excellence in therapeutic riding and driving programs.

Our Mission

Our mission is to foster an environment of inclusivity, excellence, positivity, and respect, providing a safe and supportive space for our participants to grow and thrive. We believe that the unique bond between humans and horses offers an unparalleled opportunity for personal growth, healing, and exploration.

The Farm

High & Mighty is located on over 60 acres in Ghent, NY, in Columbia County. Our facility is home to many happy horses and people. Built in 2012, our indoor arena spans 66 x 120 feet, has excellent footing, and includes heated viewing rooms. We also have an outdoor ring and a round pen. Our horses enjoy beautiful pastures with run-in sheds. We have paddocks for horses who require less grass. We have miles of trails, including interactive sensory exploration, camping areas, and outdoor corrals.

Our Herd

Our herd consists of a variety of horses and ponies, each with their own unique personality and abilities. From gentle giants to spirited ponies, our equine partners are carefully selected and trained to provide the best possible experience for our participants. They are an integral part of our therapeutic programs, offering comfort, support, and companionship to those who need it most.

Our Programs

At High & Mighty, we offer a range of therapeutic riding and driving programs designed to meet the diverse needs of our participants. Our programs are tailored to provide a safe, supportive, and enjoyable environment for individuals of all abilities, including those with physical, emotional, cognitive, and sensory disabilities.

  • Riding Program: Our riding program offers therapeutic horseback riding lessons for individuals of all ages and abilities. Participants learn horseback riding skills while benefiting from the physical, emotional, and social benefits of horse-human interaction.
  • Driving Program: Our driving program provides therapeutic horse-drawn carriage driving lessons, allowing participants to experience the joy of horseback riding without the physical demands of riding.
  • Unmounted Program: Our unmounted program offers a variety of ground-based activities, such as grooming, feeding, and interacting with our equine partners. This program is ideal for those who may not be able to participate in riding or driving due to physical limitations.
  • Barn Program: Our barn program provides a hands-on, educational experience for participants, teaching them about horse care, stable management, and farm maintenance.
  • Special Programs: We offer a range of special programs, including Horseplay Camp, which provides a fun and interactive experience for children, and our Kindness Club and Veterans Event, which offers therapeutic activities specifically for veterans and their families.

Ways to Support Us

High & Mighty relies on the generous support of our donors, sponsors, and volunteers to continue providing our therapeutic riding and driving programs. We offer a variety of ways to support us, including financial donations, corporate and foundation sponsorships, and volunteer opportunities.

From Our Program Participants

"Regardless of having the worst of days, to the worst of weeks, both physically and otherwise, it all seems to subside the second I pull up to the barn. After all, who wouldn't want to go from a seat with four wheels, to a saddle with four legs, eight feet up in the air?" - Ian, veteran
