Empowering Individuals, Challenging the Status Quo

MindFreedom International (MFI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting for human rights in mental health care. We are a coalition of psychiatric survivors, activists, and allies working together to promote alternatives to the traditional mental health system. Our organization is committed to empowering individuals to take control of their own mental health, and to challenging the oppressive and coercive practices that exist within the mental health industry.

Our Services

At MindFreedom International, we offer a range of services and resources to support individuals and communities working towards mental health liberation. Our services include:

  • Providing access to alternative mental health care providers and resources
  • Offering educational materials and workshops on topics such as harm reduction, advanced directives, and peer support
  • Advocating for policy change at the local, national, and international levels
  • Supporting and empowering psychiatric survivors to become leaders and activists in their own right
  • Creating a community of like-minded individuals and organizations working towards a common goal

Our History

MindFreedom International was founded on the principles of human rights, social justice, and empowerment. Our organization has a rich history of activism and advocacy, dating back to the 1990s. Over the years, we have worked tirelessly to promote alternatives to the traditional mental health system, and to challenge the oppressive and coercive practices that exist within the industry. Our movement has been led by psychiatric survivors, activists, and allies who are committed to creating a more just and equitable society.

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote human rights, social justice, and empowerment in mental health care. We believe that individuals have the right to self-determination, and to make their own choices about their mental health care. We believe that mental health services should be based on mutual respect, trust, and compassion, rather than coercion and control. We believe that individuals should have access to a range of alternative mental health care options, and that they should be supported and empowered to take control of their own mental health.
