The Connecticut Counseling Association (CCA) is a professional organization that supports and advocates for counselors and the counseling profession. Established in 1927, the CCA has a long history of promoting the professional identity of counselors, providing opportunities for professional development and networking, and offering resources to better support those we serve. Our mission is to enhance the quality of the counseling profession and to improve the lives of those we serve.
The CCA consists of an Executive Board and a Governing Council, which includes numerous Division Leaders and Committee/Chapter Leaders. Together, these leaders work to promote the profession of counseling in Connecticut and beyond. We believe that by working together, we can make a positive impact on the lives of individuals, families, and communities.

Member Testimonials
Our members have shared their positive experiences with the CCA:
Kelley Hopkins-Alvarez, LPC: "I have made several close friends through my volunteering with CCA. In addition, it feels great to be a part of an organization that furthers the development of clients and LPC's in this state. I also wanted to give back and pitch in."
Craig A. Holch: "I think Connecticut Counseling Association is such an important organization for LPC graduate students and licensed clinicians. I became involved in my first year of graduate school and learned so much from attending events, joining and participating on committees, and serving at the annual meetings. I met so many wonderful people who have played a significant role in my professional growth and career. I was also a member of the mentor program and was fortunate enough to have a mentor who was a lead counselor who still remains active with the foundation established after the Sandy Hook tragedy. Also, I have participated and seen first hand how powerful the legislative arm is of our Association is and how all the graduated students and licensed LPCs in the state benefit from these efforts. I cannot speak highly enough about my experience with CCA!"
Bob Schmidt, LPC: "I first joined CCA in 1989 and after all these years, I am still excited about counseling because of CCA. Since I joined I have seen CCA fight for and get licensure, third party payment, clarify our right to diagnose, raise the bar for our training, and just this year get 2 tiered counseling licensure which will greatly expand the opportunities for recent graduates to get work. In my mind, any LPC who does not join CCA is biting the hand that feeds it. Join now - you won't regret it."

The CCA hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including workshops, conferences, and networking opportunities. Our events cover a range of topics and are designed to support the professional development and growth of counselors.
