Located in the heart of Jersey City Heights, Angel Azul Bakery has been serving the community with a taste of Ecuadorian and Colombian flavors since 1998. Our family-owned bakery specializes in Latin American and South American pastries and foods, offering freshly baked goods from our own bakery, including breads, pastries, and empanadas.
Our Story
The name 'Angel Azul' was chosen by our mother, Zoily, in honor of the archangel Michael and the blue angel light ray. Our family has a rich history of tradition and dedication to their craft. Our parents met when they were young, with our mother being just 16 years old and our father being 27. When they left Ecuador, they left everything behind, including their big house and private school education for their children. They started over in a one-room studio apartment, only to work hard and make a new life for themselves.

Service Issues
Many reviewers have had issues with the service at Angel Azul. Edison N. mentioned that the staff has trouble speaking English, making it hard to order, and that his order was incorrect. K. Es was dissatisfied with the service, calling a staff member "rude" and "unhelpful". Ymmij Z. had a particularly bad experience, citing a rude staff member who needs to improve their customer service.
Food Quality
On the other hand, many reviewers has praised the food at Angel Azul. Cory Salters and Jenny both gave high praise to the pastries and coffee, with Cory mentioning the Ham & Cheese Croissants Sandwich as a recommended dish. Ricardo mentioned that the bakery has one of the best Spanish selections on Central Avenue. Michael Lopez and Joelle L. both gave high praise to the empanadas, pastries, and breakfast specials. Vibrant L. enjoyed the bunuelo and pastilles de guayaba, and mentioned that the prices are unbeatable.
Ambiance
