Our Story

Deer Park Deli has been a beloved neighborhood staple for over 70 years, serving the residents of Deer Park and surrounding communities with a dedication to quality and customer satisfaction. Established in May 1950 by Glenn Roosa, his wife Elsie, and Elsie's brother Paul Kolthoff, with the invaluable help of Mom and Pop Kolthoff, the store initially operated as Deer Park Provisions. Back then, the area was a bustling hub of activity with thirteen smaller stores, including a Kroger just four doors away. Despite the competition, Deer Park Provisions flourished, steadily growing as other stores closed or faded away.

The Heart of a Community

The success of Deer Park Provisions led to several strategic expansions over the years. In 1965, facing parking challenges, the business purchased the neighboring house, demolished it, and transformed the space into a convenient parking lot. Responding to the growing demand for their products, the Kolthoff family further solidified their commitment to the community by purchasing the land adjacent to the store in 1968. This strategic move resulted in a significant expansion, tripling the size of the store and reaffirming their dedication to serving the Deer Park community.

This growth wasn't just about physical expansion; it was about fostering a sense of community and providing a hub for locals to gather and connect. Over the years, Deer Park Deli has witnessed the journeys of countless individuals, from young employees who went on to achieve success in diverse fields, like medicine and business, to established customers who have become like family.

A Legacy of Quality and Service

In 1989, Deer Park Deli took another groundbreaking step, becoming one of the first liquor agencies in the state of Ohio. This expansion positioned the store as a versatile one-stop shop, catering to a wider range of customer needs. Today, Deer Park Deli continues to be a thriving family-owned and operated business, led by Keith and Diane Kolthoff alongside Kevin Kolthoff.
