Thompson Industries, Inc. is a family-owned and operated company that has been providing precision machined components to a diverse range of world-class customers since 1973. Founded by Ed Thompson Sr., who left his job managing the tool room at a large manufacturing company to pursue his dream of opening his own machine shop, the company has grown from a small building in Genoa, IL with just a few machines to a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Sycamore, IL. Today, the company is run by Ed Thompson Jr. (Ted), who has taken the business to new heights since assuming the role of president in 2001.

Our Services

Thompson Industries offers a wide range of services, including:

• CNC Machining: Our CNC machining service capabilities include turning, mill-turn centers, chuckers, and milling. We have a 1/4" up to 18" diameter turning capacity, and can handle parts up to 40" x 20" x 20" in our vertical milling machines. Our programmable 4th axis allows us to handle complex parts with ease.
• Manual Machining: We offer manual machining services for parts that require a more hands-on approach.
• Welding: Our welding services include MIG, TIG, and stick welding, as well as welding of exotic materials.
• Assembly: We offer assembly services for complex parts, ensuring that each part is properly assembled and tested before it leaves our facility.
• Design & Process Engineering: Our staff of experienced engineers can help design and engineer parts to meet your specific requirements.
• CAD/CAM Programming: We use state-of-the-art CAD/CAM software to program our CNC machines, ensuring precision and accuracy.
• Material Certification and Out-Source Customer Specifications: We can provide material certification for all parts, and can work with you to ensure that we meet your specific requirements.
• On-Time Delivery: We understand the importance of meeting deadlines, and are committed to delivering your parts on time, every time.
• JIT Delivery: We offer Just-In-Time delivery for customers who require parts to be delivered on a specific schedule.
• Bar-Coding: We use bar-coding to track parts throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring accuracy and accountability.
• Internet Accessible EDI Commerce: We offer electronic data interchange (EDI) for customers who require real-time access to order status and other information.

Our Facility

Our manufacturing facility of 21,000 square feet is conveniently located in Sycamore, IL, close to I-88, I-39, and I-90. Our shop is equipped with the latest in CNC technology, including CNC mills, lathes, and machining centers, as well as manual machines for parts that require a more hands-on approach. Our state-of-the-art facility ensures that we are maximizing efficiencies, and offering our customers the best possible quality and price.
