Our Heritage

Kealakekua Ranch is a symbol of the cowboy culture and ranching heritage of Hawaii. Established in 1881, it was one of the largest cattle ranches on the Big Island, covering nearly 12,000 acres. The ranch was a major employer in the South Kona district, and its operations supported hundreds of local farmers, fishermen, and producers. Although the ranch shifted its focus to more modern enterprises in the early 1970s, it has maintained its commitment to the local community and its people.
