Since our humble beginnings in 1983, Island Recycling has blossomed from a small operation working out of a repurposed shipping container in Kalihi to a sprawling seven-acre facility in Campbell Industrial Park. Driven by a commitment to protecting Hawaii's natural beauty and preserving its precious resources, founder Jim Nutter envisioned Island Recycling as a driving force in promoting recycling practices across the islands. Today, Island Recycling stands as the leading multi-commodity recycling center in Hawaii, playing a vital role in diverting over 60,000 tons of recyclable materials from the waste stream annually.

Our Comprehensive Recycling Services

Island Recycling takes pride in offering a comprehensive suite of services to cater to both residential and commercial clients. We are committed to streamlining the recycling process by accepting a wide range of materials, including steel, vehicles, equipment, major appliances, non-ferrous metals (ranging from copper and brass to aluminum, stainless steel, and more), wastepaper, plastics, tires, car batteries, electronics, and even Hawaii's 'HI-5' used beverage containers.

Our services are designed to be flexible and accommodating. We offer roll-off bins in sizes ranging from 5 cubic yards to 40 cubic yards to handle various project needs. If your recyclables present unique challenges, such as oversized equipment, hard-to-reach locations, or palletized goods, our specialized flatrack and flatbed trucks deliver the heavy-duty transport solutions you need.

For smaller quantities of materials, we utilize our front-end loader, capable of loading 6 cubic yard bins and even smaller trash bins filled with recyclable materials.

Beyond regular recycling, Island Recycling excels in dismantlement and removal services. With expertise in recycling scrap metal, we efficiently handle the dismantling and removal of steel structures, large marine vessels, and heavy equipment too large for conventional trucks. Our arsenal includes equipment such as oxygen torches, plasma cutters, and excavator shear, ensuring safe and effective material removal.
